Belmont voters will be asked to choose on June 14, when the town will vote to approve a $2 million Proposition 2 ½ override that will start to repair a hole in the town’s finances. The choice is between maintaining the institutions and services that have sustained our community for generations, or cutting programs that citizens- from school children to seniors – need and use.

Hundreds of Belmont residents have already signed on in support of an override. Visit our Supporters page to find your friends and neighbors. Follow this link to our Volunteers page to sign up for e-mail updates from OneBelmont, add your name to the list of Belmont residents in favor of passing an override, or volunteer to help OneBelmont get out the vote on June 14.

What’s New…

Unidentified opponents are making the claim that the override will fund salary increases for town and school officials. This is absolutely false. The $2 million raised will be used to restore services and positions that would otherwise be eliminated, and to repair roads and sidewalks. It will preserve freshman sports, a guidance counselor and a school psychologist, and bring back police, fire and public works positions. (Read more in our News section.)

We urge everyone to vote Yes on Monday, June 14 to save our services.
